testing the testing

Picture
The wonder of life going on, carrying on. A sense of accomplishment for staying close to the truth as you see/saw it. Yet, the perception that a feeling of vagueness, of diffused reality continues to swirl around me and perhaps all beings; continues to scratch and itch at my thoughts.

Now, I have recently been tested. That's right, tested for the corona virus. Throughout all the intense world wide focus on a single issue, testing has remained a mystery to me.
Early in March of last year, my wife became ill with symptoms that at the time, were not yet identified as being the corona virus. She experienced severe discomfort, had taste and smell loss as well as hearing and eyesight difficulties! The ordeal went on for nearly six weeks before she felt normal again. During this time, I also felt ill enough to stay home, by now  completely convinced that we both had the virus.

All along, the information concerning major cautions and protocols to be enforced on the public have been equally challenging to many  people in this country and around the world.

It occurred to me that perhaps the resistance to conforming to the pandemic precautionary protocols is primarily a personality based issue.
It is in fact that personality reflects trends in group behavior and contributes to the dynamic reflection of universal give and take, ebb and flow, addition and subtraction.

The conclusion, when considering mankind's development since the beginning of the world, is that time has not changed the inherent attitudes that spring from each individual's personal experience moment by moment. Shaped by the infinite uniqueness of existence, each and every moment affecting every cell in our being, every nerve, every sensation.

a good time to start

Just start. Plan a start. Enter a space where you are encouraged TO START HERE. Formula: You attend a session with expert and gentle guidance and there will be a request to "START HERE, start by stretching, start by preparing, start by drawing this line, etc. You actually relax when there is EXPERT GENTLE GUIDANCE. You tense up when you are starting out of fear or shame and that is why EXPERT GENTLE GUIDANCE, ANGEL GUIDANCE to be specific.

As we close out the almost unbelievable year of 2020 -- and look towards our collective future we can experience goodness and light by just starting something and finishing it. When I begin a new piece of art I am essentially a teenager discovering that just doing it is worthwhile, the outcome will reflect the degree of focus (relaxation attention) or frenzy ( fearful outcomes attention) so when you realize that it IS EMOTIONAL you can be more accepting from your point-of-view and enjoy and learn from others criticisms or comments. Stay well as you turn toward achievement mindset applied to all activities, yes a checklist can be of help. Many blessings to all for a brighter more understanding atmosphere here on planet EARTH and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Artistic Affair

We are happy to share our interests about many diverse subjects by utilizing art lessons that are designed to bring awareness, stimulate conversations and advance understanding of the dynamic world we live in.

Today we will be leading a small group of professional business men and women in a two hour sip and paint event in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The subject and activity is in concert with The American Heart Association's annual Heart Walk Fundraiser theme; "Add Color to Your Heart".
Featuring a Jim Dine inspired illustration of a traditional warmly-colored heart shape on a cool background, the idea is for each individual to selectively choose 'their color scheme' reflecting inner thoughts and feelings related to the larger event of  sacrificing a little for the sake of charity and the AHA community.

The advancement of modern heart care has been nothing short of miraculous! I can personally attest to this as in March 8, 2017, my aortic valve actually failed, causing an episode of flash pulmonary edema!

As a result, I was operated on 5 days later and the outcome has been better than I could have ever imagined. The combination of advanced technology coupled with traditional medical skill and intelligence was carried out with precision and compassion.
We should continue to support the American Heart Association and other efforts that promote best health practices, research, discovery and education that will benefit all of mankind going forward.

A few of the results from the two hour foray into a simpler world of color and feeling can be seen directly below.

Wonderful group here at the Castle headquarters in Columbus, Ohio!
A talented bunch from IT dept. enjoying a work break in artistic fashion.
The event did not feature any adult beverages, but we still enjoyed the visual trip to Lake Erie with everybody hittin' it out-of-the-park.

Gently now... Spring!

Oh boy! Slowly but surely, signs of change appear. Anticipation for the coming warmth and beauty of spring stirs once again. I for one, am captivated by the seemingly hour by hour movement of the seasons; now towards a brighter (literally) future and more opportunity to bask in the glory of nature.
The accompanying excitement of 'new beginnings' is complimented by bright color, stimulating aromas and encouraging growth. Many expressions of kindness and love can be found in the shape and movement of the flowers as they emerge from sleep, soon to be overwhelming the parks, walkways and avenues of our world.
Here is a reason to celebrate! A private gathering in your garden space, accompanied by a handful of buddies sipping tea or mimosa's, sharing a paint-party experience that is fun and colorful. I have designed a floral accent painting that will be challenging and rewarding for your group. The size, subject matter and materials allow for high levels of personalization by each participant and the special 3D paint accents create a very lovely piece of art for your bedroom, bath or den. I have been experimenting with decorative chalk paint as well as incorporating paint pens, 3D paint, and other multi-media techniques in creating new ways to encourage creativity and stimulate the senses of all participants.

My continuing immersion into all aspects of art, music, social consciousness and community activism envelops me in a desire to share and communicate the values of creative thinking. I am often told by voices detached that it is my destiny to be wide-reaching, multi-versed and expansive in my continuing pursuit of understanding and knowledge as it is my life's main activity.

Feb 2 Elevator Pop-Up!

Specifically, the Elevator Brewery Tap Room, located at 165 N. Fourth in downtown Columbus, Oh. This Pop-up fine art exhibit will be the first this year on the First Saturday art experience organized by Daniel Colvin, formerly owner of CS Gallery, Old Town East.
A POP-UP show literally pops up into a building lobby, entrance room, raw warehouse space, etc., for a brief period. This show will only be up for a few hours--- between 5 and 7 pm so if you do not visit this exhibit between those exact times then, well it will no longer be visible. But that is not a bad thing, it's really great! The ability to see a 'flash' of the artistic participants in this manner is totally unique. Unlike an opening of a group show where the art is 'curated', this exposure creates opportunities to view a different perspective and connect with curiosity seekers, artists and weekend visitors alike. I will be showing three pieces, all 16x20; two of which were originally done as sip-and-paint images! The two that are here were created not purposely for advanced events but actually do require some previous experience with these classes. Why I am pointing this out? Because all the time I have been leading these events and classes I have recognized that participants are more than able and willing to engage a difficult process; mostly because they have no previous knowledge that this one or the other represents a more challenging experience. If guided expertly, these techniques and results can be enjoyed by anyone who is willing to follow the procedures outlined by the instructor. Key component is the ability of the instructor. That's why I am sharing this post because these are real paintings!

Motivation, Inspiration, Elevation

Picture
As we crash into the new year we seem to carry over the frenzy of the holidays with an ever spinning cascade of concerns and responsibilities. At least in my case, there is an underlying sense of incompletion due to the backlog of personal goals set for the year before. This is no small matter as I perceive the entirety of mankind in a head-long leap, not sure of the destination.
Our universally acknowledged destiny to move forward as a species can sometimes be obscured by minute details that capture our attention by artificial means; the news, social media and smartphone addiction. How can we put ourselves back in control?

We are experiencing the rise of technology in applications designed to ease ourselves back into taking control of our thoughts and actions. This burgeoning trend has exploded to such an extent that simple remedies to anxiety, depression, mood disorders and the like grow exponentially as AI becomes more adept at reading our biorhythms, physical dispositions and even our life's purpose and goals!

In some ways, many of the perceived difficulties facing us are in fact, just thoughts; thoughts that can be overcome with inspiration and guidance from within our selves. The spark of motivation is a necessary component to jump start that inspiration and it can be introduced through almost any type of challenge. When we face that challenge and even have a small success, it can be a life-changing experience; not necessarily proportionate to the challenge. In golf it's par, In bungee jumping, it's height, in racing it's first place, but in art, it's the actual doing that brings rewards no matter what the outcome.

What I have personally witnessed in leading social group painting classes is that fully engaged participants are greatly rewarded with a sense of accomplishment that can lead to an underlying confidence felt in other areas.
“You can take control!” is what I encourage when directing a class; by taking control over the use of color, shape and application of paint to create a colorful painting that fosters a sense personal accomplishment. And that sense of accomplishment is ultimately accessible to ANYONE who goes through the challenge set before them.

The elevation of spirit is my personal guarantee for all participants that are up to the artistic goal they face in my classes. At the very least, the experience can be fun, entertaining and maybe even a little enlightening. I feel my absolute human best as a guide and mentor through my understanding and experience with creativity over the entire course of my life and will continue to offer inspiration and elevation. Motivation to accept the challenge? That's up to you!

Winter is beautiful

Picture

It was the night after Christmas last year when I again realized that the greatest gift of all is love, as it has been forever. Yet, considering the word 'gift' I began to move my understanding that it is continuous love without attachments, without expectations; an ever-evolving condition that cradles the universe in Aurora, the Goddess of Dawn, the infinite outward spiral of Spiritual Awareness and Expanding Consciousness of all beings from all ages.
Oh dear! Really, what to say about the joy and excitement of leading individuals and groups to experience their own special awareness of the beauty of nature and the positive vibrations all around us.
In my school, we focus on athletics, arts and music and broaden our abilities and knowledge of all with mathematics and language. This is an idea that has been in the works for a while now, getting closer to becoming reality. These words here encourage it so. Many blessings to all and to all a Good Night!

the patient speed racer!

Picture

A good friend once told me, "you must be patient. If it is meant to be, it will happen." But my stubborn intellect tells me otherwise; that nothing will happen if you don't do anything to affect the result! So it is with mirthful excitement (mirth is closely related to merry) that I finally got to be there when Trent Smith presented an original painting I created for a group painting party for Mike, the Alfa Romeo specialist and supporter of the Franklin Board of Trade, right here in Columbus, Ohio.
Trent is the director of FBOT and is constantly finding opportunities to create positive changes for Franklinton! I had donated a custom paint party event as an item to be auctioned at the FBOT fundraiser and gala in 2016 and Mike Caradonna, of Mike's Foreign Car Service on West Broad in Franklinton put in the winning bid. When I found out who had won the "Private Paint Party for Ten", I set about creating a themed Alfa Romeo painting to teach to his group of friends and family; however certain circumstances and situations delayed any contact between me and Mike.
So earlier in the year (or last year, maybe?) I asked Trent to make sure Mike at least was presented with the framed art since he had contributed to the FBOT auction generously. So, in essence, both patience and prompting finally resulted in a few beers at Land Grant Brewery to reveal the work to Mike for the very first time! And that is why I do this, for the simple joy of experiencing life through art.
